The text field is the most widely-used of the PDF form controls, which together are used for giving PDFs data-collection and submission capabilities. A text field is a rectangular box that a user can select and type a length of text into, such as a name, password, telephone number or other arbitrary text value. A text field has a few formatting options: font, outline and fill color; the more useful options allow you to decide whether the form field is visible or not (invisible form fields cannot be typed in but are useful for storing values), whether it prints, if the value entered is validated and how, whether values entered are displayed in plaintext or as asterisks, and so on.
Text fields, together with all other form fields, can be manipulated using Javascript. This is useful for computing results from values that have been entered in other parts of the form, validating values that have been entered, interacting with other aspects of the document such as bookmarks, layers, comments and so on.
Nitro PDF Professional fully supports PDF form use, creation and editing, including all of the common form controls: text fields, radio controls, buttons, and more; and also features full support for PDF Javascript.
