Bookmarks in Nitro PDF Professional add a powerful interactive aid that makes reading, navigating and using PDF documents online much easier. The bookmarks are displayed in the Bookmarks panel to the left of the document and when they are selected they can perform many different actions -- link to pages in the current document or to pages in other PDFs, link to other files and Web pages, perform advanced actions that modify forms and add interactivity via JavaScript.
Tip: To quickly make your document easier to navigate, add a bookmark link to each main heading or section.
The most common use of bookmarks, to link to different pages within the document, is one of the simplest and most effective ways to enhance a PDF document -- instantly making it more usable and useful. If they're well laid out, bookmarks will help the user understand the basic structure of long documents. Best of all, including bookmarks like this will hopefully encourage people to read your documents online instead of wasting paper by printing them.
Note: You can set the initial view of a document so that it opens with the Bookmarks panel already displayed. Go to View > Pages > Properties > Initial View and choose the Page View and Bookmarks Palette option.
