A vector object is an image composed of one or more shapes, where each shape is defined as a series of points on the page that constitute the corners of the shape, plus instructions specifying how the shape is filled with colour and how the shape outline, if any, is drawn. The main advantages of vector objects are that they remain sharp no matter how much they are enlarged, and that they tend to be produce very small PDF files.

Vector objects are less suitable for reproducing photographic images that include shading and large numbers of colors; these are more efficiently reproduced as raster objects.

Nitro PDF Professional supports full vector object editing functionality - import, export, scaling and more.
