Q10129 - PRB: Editing a PDF document generated from a scanned image.

The information in this article applies to:

  • All versions of Nitro PDF Professional

Symptoms

Many users of Nitro PDF often report that they are unable to select or edit text after scanning to a PDF file.

Cause

The scan is effectively a photograph of the printed page and therefore being an image there isn't any text to edit.

Resolution

The document must be processed using OCR technology, allowing you to edit a scanned document by recognizing text in an image to then convert it to editable data. IRIS OCR technology is available in Nitro PDF Professional OCR, which streamlines the scanning and OCR process into one easy task.
