Edit a PDF bookmark
Nitro PDF Professional comes with a complete set of tools for editing, ordering, grouping, altering the appearance of, and deleting the bookmarks in your PDF documents.
Tip: You can edit more than one bookmark at a time. To select a range of bookmarks already in order, left-click the first one, then hold down Shift and click the last one. To select bookmarks that are not next to each other, just hold down Control while you select them.
To set the PDF bookmark action:
- In the Bookmarks pane, right-click on the bookmark and select Properties.
- Click the Action tab.
- In the Action list, click the action, and then click Add Action to List.
- Set the action.
- Click Close.
To delete a PDF bookmark:
- In the Bookmarks pane, select the bookmark and do one of the following:
- Press the Delete key.
- Right-click and click Delete.
To delete all PDF bookmarks:
- On the Insert and Edit tab, in the Navigation group, click the arrow below Bookmark

- Click Delete All Bookmarks

To rename a PDF bookmark label:
- In the Bookmarks pane, do either of the following:
- Right-click and choose Rename.
- Double-click the bookmark label.
- Type the new bookmark text.
To change the appearance of PDF bookmarks:
- Right-click on the bookmark(s) and do any of the following:
- In the Style list, click the text style.
- In the Color palette, choose a pre-defined or custom color.
Bookmarks can be nested or grouped together so that a parent bookmark has child bookmarks grouped under it-this allows you to have multiple tiers or levels of bookmarks, which become particularly useful when preparing navigation for long, well-structured documents.
To reorder PDF bookmarks:
- Click the bookmark and drag it to the new position.
- Place the cursor on top of the bookmark that will appear above it and release the bookmark.
To group or nest PDF bookmarks:
- Click the bookmark and drag it to the new position.
- Place the cursor on top of the bookmark text label that will appear above it and release the bookmark.
