PDF Download Soars Past 8 Million Downloads, Features on Mozilla.org as Recommended Firefox Extension

June 10, 2008

PDF Download, the world's leading PDF extension for Mozilla Firefox, soared past the 8-million-download mark in May, cementing its place in the top ten Firefox extensions of all time. The company behind PDF Download, Nitro PDF Software, expects the number of downloads via Mozilla.org to exceed 11 million before the end of the year.

The milestone for PDF Download comes just weeks after PrimoPDF®, also by Nitro PDF Software, and the world's most popular free PDF creator, jumped ahead of Adobe Reader and into a top 20 position at Download.com. PrimoPDF now enjoys more than 15 million users worldwide .

"We're ecstatic that at time at which Nitro PDF Software enjoys record sales and revenue, more than 20 million users enjoy our free PDF software for PDF creation, downloading and conversion to HTML," said Sam Chandler, CEO, Nitro PDF Software. "As well as the continued development of our flagship Nitro PDF® Professional software for business and enterprise users, we look forward to offering more free tools to help more occasional PDF users."

"We don't typically comment publicly on products before they're released, but I can reveal that PDF Download 2.0, due for release very soon, will be an even more essential add-on for Firefox users, so stay tuned for an announcement."

For Nitro PDF Software right now, it's a case of 'watch this space.'

About PDF Download

PDF Download for Firefox removes the pain you can experience when dealing with PDF files on the web. When you click on a PDF file, PDF Download lets you know, can tell you how big it is, and can then give you the choice to open, download, or convert it to HTML. The extension for Firefox lets you decide what to do with the PDF files you click on and customize and automate how they should be handled.
